According to School of Life https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-Unq3R--M0 Consumerism started in the early 18th century in the countries of northwestern europe. This enabled society to have excess money to buy luxury goods such as fancy pillows and feathered hats.
But the youtube didn't mention that it also created more business and more jobs and thus more wealth to the cities and provinces. Which means it incentivised the next generation to study better and read more books and thus created technological advancements to society.
Fast forward 200 years from now, the Earth has run out of natural resources - It's just finite resource that will eventually run out, hyper-consumption fueled by conglomerate advertisments have depleted nature. But humans need to evolve so we would invent new tech or face extinction.
Here is what my vision for the future looks like:
-
Energy in any form will be harvested from the Sun - Today humans are taking natural resources from the earth such as fossil fuels like coal/oil and food (fish and agriculture) from the earth as a source of energy. We will have technical advancements that will give us everything we need from the sun. Humans will basically be so advanced we have will elimitated world hunger and water scarcity.
-
Hydrogen along with Solar energy for industrial power and vitamin and nutrient rich algae for food. genetically modified to grow fast and cheap. Also we would be proficient at combusting hydrogen and oxygen which will produce steam and water. This idea was inspired by Cody's lab https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64cEmjtwRgw

Safe and harmless tech to trigger the dopamine in our brain. this already have been done with mice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNXhyPj-RsM and 200 years from now this will be available as a watch or like a toaster. This new dopamine industry in more accessible as a push of a button is actually already here but it is very legalized and morally acceptable just like in the book Brave new world https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5129.Brave_New_World

Formal education today is part of the production chain of the hyper-consumerist world so in the future, students will focus more on philosophy and the arts. Collectivism will have technology accessible to everyone. Like how DIY videos on youtube, open source projects on github. All scientific advancements on technology is shared and 3d printed. Energy is abundant and materials for hardware is created with plastics from algae. However, electronics will still need silicon (which is abundant) but gold and copper is not still required for those things. so I'm not sure about this yet. So comment below and me know what you think about this?
I've been into this futurism lately and because I've find how silly exhausted we are now chasing paper for something as basic as a need as a shelter. I mean did our ancestors really worked this hard just to have a roof above their heads?
That's all see you next article!
